Yesterday, we at Ziya were guests at the „Aufbruch Dortmund“ event on the Continentale Campus. Around 120 invited guests from business, science and civic society came together to send a strong signal for the future of our business location.
The most important takeaway for us as a young tech company: Dortmund is moving forward at an incredible pace! We can feel it everywhere – a genuinely large AI hub is emerging here. There are so many up-and-coming companies driving our shared AI transformation boldly and powerfully. What impresses us most is that it is not only absolute top-tier use cases being developed, but also that AI competence among employees is being built up deeply and across the board.
When Experience Meets New Ideas
What makes this location so special is the close networking and the incredible potential unleashed when experience meets new ideas. A great example of this is the Innoclub. Through this initiative, established companies are connected directly with start-ups. That has brought tremendous momentum – momentum that is now fully unfolding and continuously carrying Dortmund's economy forward.
One thought that was emphasized again and again that evening, and one we share one hundred percent: Here in Dortmund, we absolutely do not need to hide behind the big players like Berlin or Munich. We are a city that is world-class not only in football with BVB. We are home to numerous world market leaders and major players across the most diverse industries.

Mayor Alexander Kalouti and the economic development agency summed it up perfectly: Dortmund is a growing, highly innovative ecosystem. If we continue to deploy digitalization and AI this purposefully, we will unleash an extreme power potential here. We now have the huge opportunity to let this innovative brilliance shine out of the Ruhr region – directly from Dortmund – across all of Europe.
